I did not think that as I launched the business on the 3rd of July 2020, that I would be finding myself sitting in a hospital bed post surgery from an accident the day before. Nor did I think I would be talking to you about my health and wellbeing from this perspective and where my journey is today. But here we are. Today, you will find the story of how my brand came about but as you keep reading through my journal entries you will see the journey of my accident, what has led me to where I am today, management of my health and wellbeing, the journey and management of my business’, and how I have and have not maintained a work life balance. This is how I have found and show up in ‘Expressing the Essence of Jess'. This is no way perfect, I am far from it, but I hope when you read this you find that you are not alone in your thoughts, feeling, ideas and in how you express them.

Firstly, how did this idea come about?

Truthfully, beginning of last year I was going through some of my hardest and most challenging days. I was working through some personal challenges, whilst I was onboarding staff for the first time, managing a full caseload, and travelling 90 mins to and from work each day. I was exhausted.

The drive though, was my down time. For me driving is a form of mediation. Once I am in the car, I am able to focus on the road and let my mind wonder, process and reflect on the day. This is one of a few places that I can check in with myself freely, understand in depth how I am feeling and make big and hard decisions. It is also where some of my big ideas come from.

This is where the ‘Essence of Expression’ was born.

I was going through my own challenges, however, so too were some of my clients. I wanted a place, a way to communicate and opportuntiies for individuals who are trying to manage multiple things in their lives, such as building a career and working out what parenthood means for you. I wanted you to know you are not alone and to build a community around us to build up, support and connect with others who too are on this journey.

So again, welcome! I look forward to going on this adventure with you. it is going to be a fun ride, full of stories, laughs and support.
